Many first-time filers expect to scan and upload salary certificates, bank statements and investment papers. The NBR e-Return system generally does not require any supporting documents to be uploaded.
Why you still need the documents
You must enter every figure correctly, and those figures come from your documents. Keep these at hand before you start:
- Salary statement or the employer’s certificate of tax deducted at source
- Year-end bank balances and certificates of tax deducted on interest
- Proof of investments: savings certificates, DPS, life insurance premiums
- Records of rental, business or other income
- Details of assets and liabilities (land, apartment, vehicle, loans)
If the tax office later asks to verify anything, these documents are your evidence. Keep them organised for several years.
What you receive after submitting
As soon as you submit, the system issues an Acknowledgement slip and generates your Tax certificate. You can download them, together with a copy of the return, at any time from the Tax record menu.
Tip
Save all three as PDFs on the day you file. Banks, credit card issuers and licensing offices often ask for proof of return submission (PSR).
