After filing online, do I need to submit anything to my tax circle?

Short answer: no. Once your e-Return is submitted, that is your official filing. You do not need to take a paper copy or extra proof to your tax circle.

Why not?

When you submit, the return is linked to your TIN and reaches the relevant tax circle automatically, and an acknowledgement is generated. The filing is complete online.

When you may need to contact the circle

  • You receive a notice asking for information or an explanation
  • Your return is selected for audit or verification
  • You find a mistake and want to file a revised return

In those cases, follow the instructions in the notice. Without a notice, there is nothing to submit.

Always do this

Download the acknowledgement slip, tax certificate and return copy. They are your proof of filing.

Please note: tax law, the Finance Act and the online system can change every fiscal year. Check the latest National Board of Revenue (NBR) guidance before acting.
