Company Formation· 1 min read

Bangladesh has gradually simplified its import rules to support supply, investment and production. Importing has two main parts:

  1. Bringing goods into the country
  2. Paying for them in foreign currency

Who regulates what

Area Authority
Import/export approval and registration (IRC/ERC) Office of the Chief Controller of Imports and Exports, Ministry of Commerce
Rules for paying for imports Foreign exchange department of Bangladesh Bank

To import regularly, a business first needs an Import Registration Certificate (IRC).

Please note: tax law, the Finance Act and the online system can change every fiscal year. Check the latest National Board of Revenue (NBR) guidance before acting.
