4 common e-Return problems and how to solve them

Income Tax· 1 min read

1. You do not know the mobile number used for your TIN

That does not matter. Use your current number registered to your NID, set a new password via OTP and sign in.

2. Inherited gold or furniture with an unknown value

Guessing a market value will make your wealth statement fail to reconcile. For inherited assets whose value you do not know, enter the quantity (e.g. weight of gold) and zero as the value.

3. Your employer deducted tax and gave you a challan

Enter the bank and branch, challan number, date, total challan amount and your share in the e-Return Ledger.

4. Can you adjust vehicle advance tax (Car AIT)?

Yes. The receipt for advance tax paid at BRTA shows a Transaction ID. Enter it under AIT on Car and the amount is credited automatically.

Please note: tax law, the Finance Act and the online system can change every fiscal year. Check the latest National Board of Revenue (NBR) guidance before acting.
